AquaFounders Capital is a project development company leveraging the unique first-hand experience of its founders in building and operating two of the industry’s leading companies – Ohad Maiman, Founder and former CEO of The Kingfish Company, and Thue Holm, Founder and former CTO of Atlantic Sapphire.
The company is focused on securing a strategic position in the land-based aquaculture sector, across the entire value chain, by identifying and tackling the most critical challenges and solutions needed for the Land Based aquaculture sector to mature and scale.
Our current projects include Farm in a Box, a plug-and-play hardware and software solution for modular land-based fish farming, and the search for a land-based farm site for the development of new high-value species.
WHAT IS ADVANCED LAND BASED AQUACULTURE?
Advanced Land Based aquaculture (RAS) is the farming of high quality seafood in controlled optimal conditions on land, much like a greenhouse for fish.
The technology has advanced significantly over the last decade from proof of concept to commercial scale in order to address the structural supply bottlenecks and environmental challenges of wild catch and traditional aquaculture.

Farm in a Box
A transformative leap in land based aquaculture technology- engineered to address the supply bottleneck of sustainable seafood- by solving the high cost, lengthy construction, and operational complexity currently holding back the Land Based sector’s growth potential.
The modular, pre-fabricated, and customisable high-tech solution is poised to disrupt current aquaculture practices by providing scalable, environmentally-friendly farming systems at lower CAPEX/OPEX and fast on-site assembly.

Drawing on the strategic advantage of land-based systems to deliver a high quality product and deploy at the relevant market, we are developing a new high-value species whose supply is currently limited.

OHAD MAIMAN
Founder and former CEO of The Kingfish Company, Ohad Maiman, has over ten years of experience in the land based aquaculture industry. Maiman’s work at The Kingfish Company, from its inception to its listing on the Oslo Euronext Growth stock exchange, led the company to become a first mover in the land based aquaculture industry in both the EU and the US. Additionally, he is Chairman of the Board at Pine Island Redfish and a member of the Board at ReeData AI.

THUE HOLM
Founder and former CTO of Atlantic Sapphire, Thue Holm, has accumulated twenty years of industry experience within the land based aquaculture sector. Holm’s expertise in the farming and technology areas of Atlantic Sapphire enabled the company to grow into the largest land based aquaculture company in the world before being listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. He is also Co-owner and Chairman at Fluebinding Aps and a Board member at Plast Solutions Aps.
